Learn to make (and keep!) your own bezel-set stone pendant. Participants will choose a stone from a selection that includes semi-precious cabochons like agate, onyx, and turquoise, and set this stone in a sterling silver bezel. This class runs from 1:00pm-5:00pm and during this time you will learn basic metalsmithing skills including:
• bending wire with pliers
• soldering with high-temp silver solder
• sanding & filing
• bezel setting to hold your stone in place
• polishing with a rotary tool
The stacking rings class is recommended but not required to take in advance. Chain is not included in the workshop but participants can choose to purchase a chain for an added fee. Safety instructions and precautions will be provided.
Everyone works at their own pace so even though most participants will complete their projects during the workshop, some folks made need a little extra time. Most Sundays throughout the summer will have open studio hours where you can come in to complete your project at no cost.
