Learn to make (and keep!) your own monogram pendant. Participants will work with a combination of sterling silver, brass and copper to design and fabricate a one-of-a kind pendant. Class will begin with designing on paper and will move into transferring the design to metal. This class runs from 1:00pm-4:00pm Saturday and Sunday and during this time you will learn basic metalsmithing skills including:
• sawing & piercing
• sanding & filing
• soldering with high-temp silver solder
• polishing with a rotary tool
The stacking rings class is recommended but not required to take in advance. A simple silver chain will be included. Safety instructions and precautions will be provided.
Everyone works at their own pace so even though most participants will complete their projects during the workshop, some folks made need a little extra time. Most Sundays throughout the summer will have open studio hours where you can come in to complete your project at no cost.
